Modes of Play and Roster Changes

This game provides multiple modes of gameplay: Blacktop, Season Mode, Quick Game, and My Career. For most players, Career mode provides the most satisfying gameplay. Over the years, the NBA 2K franchise has put in considerable effort to improve this mode.

In the Career mode, you start with a player in college. After the try-out games, the player gets drafted. He can work his way up the rotation to achieve different goals. The goals are measured in terms of finances and contributions to the team.

The roster has been improved in this version through adding new teams. But the most desirable teams are pay-to-play.

Great Visuals and Weak Controllers

The players, the courts, and the backgrounds look great. The graphics render smoothly on the screen. The cutscenes provide relevant context to the story. Visually this game pleases the eye.

However, the previous version of this game had accuracy problems with the controllers. The developers have tried to simplify the controllers by restricting the actions. These improvements are not enough to address the inaccuracy issues. You still feel like you don’t have full control of the ball. It seems easy to miss passes or make the wrong shots.
